The buying process in Spain can actually be completed very quickly - more quickly than the UK process in fact. However, the process can sometimes be a little odd and you need to have some patience. We will help you with all you need, however this is generally the process that you will follow:

Once you have chosen the property, you will normally put down a deposit to secure it this can be done subject to mortgage. This is typically between 3000-6000 euros or up to 10% of the purchase price on larger more expensive properties.

Over the next 4 to 6 weeks, we can assist you with the arrangement of a mortgage should you require it, which for non-residents between 70 and 80% of the valuation of the property will typically be available. The valuations can be significantly higher than the purchase price meaning that you may only have to pay the deposit or the costs on specific properties with the remaining amount being mortgagable. Once the mortgage is approved your lawyer will make an appointment for you at the notary to sign for your property. The money shall be transferred and the Escritura (which is the purchase document) is signed.

From the point of the signing of the escritura, the buyer owns the property.
